The Urban Water Tree as an example of how the City of Ghent could encorporate recycled plastics in their path towards climate neutrality
Throughout the PlastiCity project a number of product were designed in the different regions. We summarized them in an overview which you can find in the download section of the PlastiCity website. (add link: https://www.plasticityproject.eu/downloads/ )
In Ghent, co-creative workshops with designers, civil servants active in the field and experts from Ghent University were organized. The themes of ‘Mobility’, ‘Water,’ Garbage and ‘Green’ in the City were explored and deepened. A project question was then distilled from the obtained insights: “How can we make Ghent resistant to heavy rain, drought and heat with locally made products from recycled plastics from pre-consumer waste?”
Apollo 18 was commissioned to tackle this challenge and designed 'the Urban Water Tree'
